restoration.

Restoration is a short documentary created in collaboration with The University of Adelaide, following a team of scuba-diving marine biologists as they undertake a hands-on restoration project along South Australia’s metropolitan coastline. With increased human activity and climate change driving a drastic decline in marine species, the film documents both the environmental challenges and the people working on the front line to combat them.

Guided by Professor Sean Connell from the Marine Biology Department, and supported by archived underwater footage from videographer and marine biologist Stephan Andrews, the project blends scientific insight with cinematic storytelling. Leading a crew of six through pre-production, production, and post-production, this short documentary captures the urgency, scale, and human effort behind real-world marine restoration. The final film offers an intimate, on-the-ground perspective of conservation in action highlighting both the fragility of our ecosystems and the resilience of those working to protect them.
